How we rank

How we pick products

Each ranking starts with the buyer: who the product is for, which specs decide the purchase and the usual price range. We shortlist models that keep coming up in retailer listings, editorial roundups, Reddit threads and video reviews, and keep 8-10 of them.

What our score means

The 0-10 score next to each product is our own assessment of how well it fits the buyer described on the page, compared with the other products in the same ranking. The order of the ranking follows that assessment.

Where the data comes from

  • Specs come from the manufacturer.
  • Measured numbers and reported defects come from published tests and video reviews, credited to their author.
  • Star ratings, rating counts and the pros and cons are aggregated from opinions published on the internet.
  • Every source we used is listed under the product, with its date where we have one.

How often we update

Each ranking shows the date it was last updated. We revisit rankings when new models appear or when prices and availability change.

How we make money

We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program. When you buy through our links we may earn a commission, at no extra cost to you. A place in a ranking cannot be bought, and no brand pays us to be listed.
